In 2002 I took a career change and trained as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant. This fitted in well with my love of learning and teaching, which I hadn’t pursued until then, and with bringing up my own children. I gained plenty of experience and fond memories. I thoroughly enjoyed this work for the next 15 years, working in various schools, both secondary and primary. I took all the training offered: I am a great believer in continued professional development. So much so, that when I re-located in 2017 to the Southwest to semi-retire, I missed teaching and so decided to pick it up again with a refresher course. In 2021, I found Plymouth Private Tutors and concurrent to embarking on further training in education with Applied Scholastics, I started working as a private tutor. My subject is English and with my experience and especially my recent training, I am more enthusiastic than ever to help others appreciate literary works and to succeed in using our language.
